The webcasts shed light on key conditions and current challenges facing real estate markets. The lecture “Macroeconomic Foundations of the Real Estate Market” examines the overall economic significance of the real estate sector. Particular emphasis is placed on the core areas of real estate supply and demand and the functioning of real estate markets. In addition to national real estate cycles, international cycles are also examined. The lecture is rounded off with current topics such as the effects of regulatory intervention and the implications of the coronavirus pandemic for real estate markets.

The lecture “Sustainability in the real estate industry” first examines various positions on sustainability and the role of real estate (or properties and stakeholders) in the corporate sustainability process. It also examines the factors influencing the investment approach and economic implementation, as well as how these can be measured. A practical implementation example rounds off the lecture.

Real Estate and Financing

Time: 1 x approx. 3.5 hours – Uwe Kaiser, Deutsche Bank

The lecture “Real Estate and Financing” examines the reasons why owners finance their real estate with external capital, which products are suitable for this purpose, and who the providers are. Furthermore, the lecture focuses on explaining the most important features of (bank) real estate financing and its legal basis. Finally, questions about interest rates and, if applicable, interest rate hedging are addressed, and the overall economic significance of the real estate sector is examined. Particular emphasis is placed on the core areas of real estate supply and demand as well as on the functioning of real estate markets. In addition to national real estate cycles, international cycles are also examined. The lecture is rounded off with current topics such as the effects of regulatory intervention or the implications of the coronavirus pandemic on real estate markets.

The lecture “Real Estate Project Development” begins with the methodological basics and definitions. Building on this, the various types, trends, and strategies of project developers are presented. Further attention is paid to current trends, sustainability aspects, and the paradigm shift in asset allocation among investors. Investment appraisal, contract models, and remuneration models are covered from a methodological perspective. Various case studies are used to bring the content together in a practical way.

Time: 1 x approx. 1.5 hours – Prof. Yvonne Brandenburger, Erfurt University of Applied Sciences

The webcast “Area definitions according to DIN 277 and gif” highlights a central but often neglected topic in real estate practice: the correct determination and contractual specification of rental space. The focus is on the two common methods of area calculation in Germany – DIN 277 and the gif guideline (MF-G). Both define how rental areas are to be determined, but differ considerably in their approaches and results.
